P3S (Perceptive, Planner, and Performer System) addresses this challenge by incorporating SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) and an efficient path-planning algorithm to guide the bot through uncharted territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Understanding SLAM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is SLAM?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SLAM is a crucial aspect of autonomous robotics, standing for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping. It&#8217;s the process by which a robot constructs a map of its environment while simultaneously tracking its own position within that environment. In the context of the mbot, SLAM involves multiple stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perception: The robot collects data from its sensors, such as cameras and lidar, to understand the surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Localization: Using the gathered data, the robot estimates its position within the map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mapping: The robot builds a map of the environment using the collected sensor data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Global Search vs Bug Algorithm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Global Search (A*)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pros:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finds the optimal path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suitable for complex environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Computationally intensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>May struggle with large-scale maps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bug Algorithm (Local Search)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pros:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simplicity and efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Works well in simple environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Can get stuck in certain situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>May not find the optimal path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reflection on Implementation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The journey in implementing P3S has been both enlightening and challenging.
